try to remember..

Trying to remember where I began..back in 7th grade (1962) we had a short stint in pottery with Mr. Meek and another stint in 1966 with Mrs. Pickens but no wheel throwing then..I can't even remember what I did in her class in high school; I just know she would make "corrections" to our work which for me, rendered them no longer MINE. So here's some stuff from joining the clay club around mid-April and I work mostly on the wheel trying to teach myself. The black and red bud vase shapes were done in slab and the other 3 are from practicing cylinders. I hope to get into a class this summer to develop my wheel throwing or handbuilding skills.

As to glazes, upper left is mystery 2! Ha! Below that one I used cobalt with mystery2. The bottom left I incised the design with a needle tool and painted that in iron oxide and sanded it back so the oxide stuff was only in the grooves and I glazed in bringle matte and flecked it with Bailey's red and Pete's Copper Orange. The upper right was glazed in oribe which I call ho-ree-blay (horrible). Next below that is done in Bailey's red and the bottom was a catch all for the bunch..handle is cobalt, cup body was done in summer celadon and Pete's copper orange the inside is in mystery2 again! I love a mystery! There is a mad dash to get all of the pieces fired and I'm sure I have another 20 pieces to get in and out of firing. I'm not very good...YET and I have a list of stuff that I want to make!
