House Update

Here's what it's looking like on the outside except for garage doors and paint. Inside is needing insulation, dry wall, cabinets, sinks, tubs and toilets. I guess it's just a matter of time..and work!

A Work in Progress

Imagine a bathroom--this (when finished) will be on the wall to the right, the vanity is to the left and in front of you is a walk-in shower. To the right of the shower entry are 2 hooks. 2 indigo and white kimono hang on a hook. At your feet you step onto a wood grating with Japanese wooden slippers (getta) positioned to the left of the grating. This is my vision. We'll see how it all turns out. I was going to paint this on the wall and decided to do a 30 x 40 inch canvas instead. What do you think??

Looks like mad science

I've been taking some filmy blouses, cutting off the sleeves, changing necklines, etc. to use as an over blouse with long-sleeved T's for work. Guess I should post pics of them finished. It seems like I bought 2 at nearly 20 dollars each and the re-worked ones were 5 dollars and under. I like 'em cuz they hide some figure flaws and seem a tad more stylish than a t-shirt!

PAELLA

Today is the second snow day at home.  Yesterday I ran the Beetle around to see how she handles in the snow and one of the errands was to get some seawater to keep my clams alive from Monday's harvest.  Today the clams were all clean from spitting out the sand and in checking out for ingredients and taking suggestions from other people stuck in the house, we decided on this luscious Paella for lunch.  Missing from the recipe?  Crab and lobster!  It was really delish and I saved out some clams for chowder which we had for dinner with some salad!Posted by Picasa

"finishing" projects

My covered container had a crack on the lid--it didn't go all the way through the lid and happened in the second firing with the glaze on it. I decided to cement a black iron drawer pull on it.

The octopus was involved in a battle with some other piece one of the g-kids played with and lost some arms--I decided on keeping him; originally I had him as a lid on a tall cylinder but it was a precarious perch for him..he will sit on the bed of rocks on the bathroom counter in the new place! Some day I will turn him into a giant octopus!
