We give thanks

charsiu stuffing...
Thanksgiving window decorations
great appetizers and Noe's rolls..just before she eggwashed them and put them in the oven to finish browning
It wasn't the typical Thanksgiving celebration; the snow set me back a few days, our leftover potluck/volleyball activity was celebrated on Black Friday and our actual family feast was on Saturday! Play was great and it took days to recover.

first snow 2010

WOW! It came with howling winds and uprooted trees and mad traffic! I was able to get home in the Beetle but left the car in the street when I couldn't get into the driveway forward or reversing. I thought something was fishy cuz these cars are supposed to be good in snow, I think, turbo or no turbo. After 3 days of being housebound I read through the entire owner's manual and think it says when driving in snow, turn off the anti-slide switch. A scary thought! So now I'll call my VW guru and pose the question and get some cables for the front wheels. I know this is just the beginning and I don't want to be stranded somewhere.

like losing a limb

Thought I'd be dead in the water with no lifeline but a local computer store set me up and when I got home with the new tower Brandon showed me how it's done...now I'm trying to find my "old" stuff on one hard drive, and run the new stuff on the new drive. Interesting.

Coiled

I've made 2 of these coiled "plates" and hope to eat some noodles in them one day! They take about a couple of hours to make. I need to use a glaze that lets the coil patterns show..I like how they look so far, and when I do them again, I'll not make it so deep. As to work on the wheel, I think I can use more clay and do larger pieces. The quarter is nearly over...I mean, I can keep making stuff but they won't make the kiln deadlines after Thanksgiving. I stayed til midnight helping to unload the hot pieces and reload with new pots again!

Lillah-monster

She is coming along just cutely! I don't know if we'll ever be able to guess her REAL age since she was born 2 months early! She's been here for 6 months now and is slowly catching up to her age, but I think we count her as 4 months in progress! She is the apple of her daddy's eyes!!!

I think it's the hat!

I put together a Mad Hatter outfit to take a picture with these Halloweend characters..Anisa..tall gal in the back is into Steam Punk and I can best describe that it seems like a Victorian Era futuristic way of thinking. Next weekend is a Steam Punk convention with bands, etc. She also likes Irish drinking songs..maybe in an effort to be so different from other teens she is becoming very eccentrically apart..this is like Star Wars and Star Trek fan groups; but hey, I don't really know what it's all about. In orange is Trishana, as a hockey goalie, between Anisa and I is Jack, the Ninja, me, the Mad Hatted person and I didn't want to clean orange gunk out of my hair! Oscar is the Zombie who looks like he's eating the puff balls on Kawailani's Toff costume, and Lehua has tried to take off the armor of Suki, a Kiyoshi Warrior from Avatar, the Last Airbender from the Nickelodeon cartoon series..I dressed to be a part of this picture and to hand out candy...though I would have done better to walk off some of the sweets I've been having for the last few days!! As usual, a good time was had by all as we had franks and beans and chicken and dumplings for dinner. I will need to search for something GREEN and healthy to eat for the next few days!

November is the month our family has 4 birthdays!!! And these kids were talking turkey already!!
